About Us

RGalen Consulting Group, L.L.C. was formed in the Fall of 2001.  We are located in the Research Triangle Park - RTP area of North Carolina and offer a variety of Services to our clients.

As our mission statement alludes, we are focused more towards the "people side" of software technology product development.  We passionately believe that success in all aspects of technology are strongly linked to your care, feeding and application of people.  In all of our engagements, we strive to solidify and empower these links - which inevitably and significantly map to the bottom line of your business.

BIO

Robert 'Bob' Galen is the President and Principal Consultant of RGCG, L.L.C.  Bob has held director, manager and contributor level positions in both software development and quality assurance organizations.  He has nearly 25 years of experience working across a wide variety of software technology & product domains.

Bob has unique and deep experience at the intersection of -

  • Software product development
  • Software testing and quality assurance
  • Software project management
  • Towards effectively leading teams through improvement and change

He is a thought leader on maximizing the efficiency and productivity of software teams in getting work done. He is a proponent of the Agile Methodologies as an enabling mechanism to meet these goals, while at the same time, being seasoned enough to realize that traditional methods have their benefits and uses as well. He is a Certified ScrumMaster Practicing (CSP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), has coached XP teams, and is an avid Agile Methods Practitioner & Pragmatist.

He is also an accomplished writer and conference speaker on topics pertaining to Software Projects and Teams: Project Management, Leadership, Agility, Requirements, and Testing. His is the author of the book Software Endgames and is working on another book focused on Software Planning and Estimation.

Bob is an active member of ACM, Agile focused groups, QAI and PMI. He is currently volunteering in the following capacities -

A program is a specification of operations to be done in the future. Programming is the process of reasoning about such specifications. Programmers reason about the future. Programmers should be good at this.
