PMI IS-SIG Webinar Series - February 2009

http://www.pmi-issig.org/Default.aspx?tabid=448

I've been fortunate again to be invited to give a recorded webinar session for the IS - SIG, which is the largest SIG within PMI.

The topic is - A Project Management Primer for Software Testing & Quality and it will run "live" as their featured webinar from January 29 thru to the end of February.

Agile Carolinas - Charlotte, NC

http://agile-carolinas.pbwiki.com/

Joe Little has been giving back to the agile community for a number of years by leading Agile Carolinas in Charlotte. He's brought in some great speakers, but my schedule has never really allowed me to attend a seesion. One of my many regrets.

I've been working on a 'Guide' for the Scrum Product Owner lately--trying to fill in a knowledge gap that I perceive affects many teams. I'll 'convert' some of the material from that guide for a presentation for this group.

March 16-18, 2009

2009 North American - Scrum Gathering, Orlando, FL

While it conflicts with the TISQA conference, I'm looking to at least get down there for a day or so...I might even "blow off" TISQA once I have the program established, boo...hiss...but it's THAT important!

I'll be presenting a 1/2 workshop on Creating & Leading the High Performance Test Team and a track talk on Testing in the Enterprise Using SCRUM.

This is the first time I've been back to a QAI event in a few years and the "Quest" format is new. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes. I'll be up there for the day of my presentation, flying in the night before.

Update: Due to illness, I had to cancel this event. It's the first time I've missed a scheduled conference since 2000.

May 6-7, 2009

2009 Star East Conference, Orlando, FL

http://www.sqe.com/STAREAST/

I'll be presenting a double track session on Agile Testing in the Large-Stories & Patterns of Transformation. It will be focused towards practices & challenges facing teams testing in larger scale environments and organizations, where agility can be challenged by culture, process, resources, skills, technology, and sheer size & complexity.

I'll be flying in on Wednesday morning (May 6) and back the evening of my presentation on (Thursday, May 7) and perhaps the afternoon before...

RTP Product Camp

http://barcamp.org/ProductCampRTP

This is an unConference in the spirit of Bar Camps. Sort of an Open Space conference. I've not participated in one of these before, but I'm looking forward to the new experience.

I've signed up to give two talks, but we'll see what the interest level is: Exploring the Practices of a Great Product Owner and Introduction to User Stories for Capturing Agile Requirements

It's on a Saturday and it's FREE!

2009 PMI IS-SIG Profession Development Symposium, Quebec, CA

http://pds.pmi-issig.org

I've presented sessions at the PDS in 2006 & 2007 and been accepted for a 1/2 workshop at this years Symposium on - Agile Requirements, Estimation & Planning.

Update: Due to poor registration numbers, the IS-SIG has decided to cancel this event for 2009. Too bad really, as I was very much looking forward to seeing Quebec! Maybe next year...

June 17-18, 2009

Matrix Seminar:  Agile Coaching - Atlanta, GA

Due to demand, 2 sessions are scheduled...

www.matrixresources.com

August 24-28, 2009

2009 Agile Conference , Chicago, IL

http://agile2009.agilealliance.org/

This year I've been lucky enough to be involved as a volunteer - Asst. Stage Producer for the conference. I've wanted to get involved in crafting the content for a few years, and this gives me that chance. I'm part of the Testing Stage with Lisa Crispin being the Producer. How cool is that!

BTW: The entire program is simply outstanding, but the Testing Stage is going to ROCK!

I've just got word that 2 of my submissions were accepted for the conference. This is quite an honor, as the competition was fierce this year and only about 17% of submissions were accepted.

I'll be presenting

  • On Tuesday, A Test Managers' Support Group for Adopting Agility. The will be a workshop where we explore some of the critical challenges attendees have seen in moving from Waterfall to Agile testing and share strategies to accelerate adoption (or at least survive ;-)
  • On Thursday, Setting Agile-Centric Release Criteria. Which will essentially focus on multi-level Done-Ness criteria within agile teams.

I'll be flying in on Monday and back out Thursday evening, so I'll essentially be there all week and would love to collaborate with like-minded agilistas...

September 30, 2009

CAI and IT Metrics & Productivity Institute - Software Best Practice Webinar Series.

I'll be presenting on Agile Projects - Beginning with the End in Mind at this session. To participate, please use this link to register for the webinar

October 19-23 2009

2009 Software Testing & Performance Conference -

East / Fall, Boston, MA

www.stpcon.com

Traditionally I've been a part of this conference and plan on attending again this year. They're planning on changing the schedule of the conference to an extended 3 days of tutorials + 2 days of presentation format.

Given that, I've been invited to teach more in-depth, workshop sessions focused towards agile testing. l'll be extending my wokshop / tutorial on Agile & Highspeed Testing Techniques to 2 days.

I'll also be providing 2 - 1/2 day workshops back-to-back on A Test Leaders Guide to "Going Agile" to help with agile adoption planning and strategy development from a test-centric perspective.

Finally, I'll be sharing the following track presentations:

  • 2 part - Releasing Agile Products in the Enterprise
  • Setting Agile-Centric Release Criteria

during the last 2 days of the conference. It will be a fun week and I'm looking forward to seeing how the new format works.

With this economy though...keep your fingers crossed.

November 9 - 13, 2009

2009 Agile Development Practices Conference, Orlando, FL

http://www.sqe.com/agiledevpractices/

I'll be presenting a track talk on - Mature Agile Teams: 16 Essential Patterns.

I'll probably only be flying in for the day -- once the timing has been decided...
